Google Project Ara( An innovative piece’s’ of smart phone)

All the projects that Google is working on, like Project Ara, Project fi, Project Soli, Project wing, Project balloon, Project Tango and many more are super cool.

In my view this year Google I/O 2016 was mostly about AI and VR. Last year I have read about “Google Project Ara” and that really freaked me out. Now let’s see what actually is Project Ara.

Google Project Ara wants to do to hardware what apps did to software.

By creating a phone that can have each component changed, all the main components are interchangeable via modules that click in and out, attaching via electro permanent magnets.

Google believes it will drive down hardware pricing while allowing users to pick and choose what they want. That’s what Google’s Project Ara a modular smartphone aims to do. No need to buy a new Smartphone due to some damage just change the respective module. At last we can say only one thing that it’s a flexible platform suitable for everyone, everywhere and any time. It allows developers to be able to create modules for its Ara device.

So, let me know what do you think…

What’s Encryption? And what’s Quantum Cryptography?

Encryption is simply taking some information that makes sense and scrambling it into some mess, so that no one can open it without a specified key. In reality, many websites on the internet contain some of our secret and sensitive information( like credit card info and even messages), to protect these we use Encryption.

So, how do they manage to protect our information?

Well.. The information is first turned into some other sequence or into bits, then we use something called KEY, to protect our information.

This key is like, multiplying every bit of the code with a certain prime number or something else. This makes it difficult to crack. Because, its easy to know the multiplication of two prime numbers. But, its pretty tough to tell the two prime numbers with which the number or the output bit is obtained.

And for encryption, we don’t use small primes, we actually use bigger prime numbers. It may take years to find the factors for that number by a human. But the machine(computer) created by the human is super fast and can find the key faster than you expect, of course that damn tough to do so.

Now, let’s see what “Quantum Cryptography” is?

Encryption is done purely based on mathematics. When it comes to highest level of protection, “Quantum Cryptography” comes into picture. Unlike encryption, Quantum Cryptography uses physics. In Quantum Cryptography, the information is hidden in Photons(light particles).

The key here is  a stream of photons travelling in one direction, with each of these photon particles representing a single bit of data (either a 0 or 1). All of these photons are oscillating (vibrating) in any 360-degree range across any conceivable axis, let the  oscillations be grouped into 4 particular states: UP/DOWN, LEFT/RIGHT, UPLEFT/RIGHTDOWN and UPRIGHT/LEFTDOWN.UPRIGHT/LEFTDOWN. The angle of this vibration is known as the polarization of the photon.

A polarizer is that which simplifies a filter that permits certain photons to pass through it with the same oscillation as before and lets others pass through in a changed state of oscillation.

Now, let’s see how a key is made. Let  “A” sends oscillating photos may be UP/DOWN, LEFT/RIGHT, UPLEFT/RIGHTDOWN and UPRIGHT/LEFTDOWN. The receiver “B” uses two types of polarizers ( Diagonal and Horizontal/vertical) for each photon, to polarize and ends up with an information waiting for a confirmation by the sender “A” about the polarizer “B” used, that is, Diagonal or Horizontal/vertical polarizer.

Because, a Diagonal polarizer won’t polarize a Horizontally polarized photon, that is, there is a 50% chance of 1 and 50% chance of 0. Finally once the sender “A” confirms the polarizer used for each bit, the wrongly guessed combinations are thrown out and the correct key is obtained.

Using Quantum Cryptography as of now is very tough. This was practically practised in IBM lab.

TELEPORTATION?

Teleportation is nothing but converting matter into data, transport that data to a desired position and reassemble it. The very first teleportation was done back in 1998. A photon was teleported one meter. This whole teleportation thing works on the principle of Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle ( it tells that we can know speed or position of an object but not both) ,  with this we developed a theory called “QUANTUM ENTAGLEMENT”, learn more about it here Quantum entanglement. This principle tells that any two entangled particles are connected where ever they are in the universe. So, to teleport a photon we need two entangled photons.

  1. Photon A: The photon to be teleported
  2. Photon B: The transporting photon
  3. Photon C: The photon that is entangled with photon B

By entangling photons B and C, researchers can extract some information about photon A, and the remaining information would pass on to B by way of entanglement, and then on to photon C. When researchers apply the information from photon A to photon C, they create an exact replica of photon A. However, photon A no longer exists as it did before the information was sent to photon C.

Well… Till date we were teleporting only photons, but in a human body there are 10^28 atoms.. According to the researchers a human body consists of 3.02*10^32 gigabytes, which might take like forever to teleport, by the way what’s your internet speed? ;);).

There is another problem!!!!

Here comes a clash between the science and philosophy because to teleport matter, matter needs to be converted into data which indirectly means to destroy it first. At this time we were successful in teleporting photon and a few atoms like Cs and Rb. But What if in near future we find a way to teleport actual molecules, even organic molecules, in turn teleporting a real human. To teleport first we indirectly destroy the initial object right, only then the object is converted to data and teleported with all the exact same features and memories as the initial object, then what happens to the soul we all believe in, and the teleported human is actually dead??

Let me know your thoughts… It feels great to be back..

“QUANTUM ENTANGLEMENT” or A spooky action at a distance…

“QUANTUM ENTANGLEMENT” Initially hated by Albert Einstein, he named it Spooky action at a distance. Because it seemed to contradict his statement ” nothing can go faster than light”.

Lets see how, say two particles are vibrating together, now separate them. An ambilical cord is created between them, such that if one particle is interrupted, then the other particle is aware of the fact that the first one is interrupted. Same is the case also when the particles are separated by a distance of 100.000 light (maybe ends of galaxy).

This would seem as if the information is sent faster than light but actually, just a random information is sent. So the statement ” nothing can go faster than light” is perfectly true.

This results that, measurements performed on one system seem to be instantaneously influencing other systems entangled with it.

May be this should come first, “Quantum entanglement is a quantum mechanical phenomenon in which the quantum states of two or more objects have to be described with reference to each other, even though the individual objects may be spatially separated.”

I strongly recommend you to view the video embedded. So, let me know, what do you think of this?

“QUANTUM COMPUTING”, What’s that all about?

The “QUANTUM COMPUTING” as the name suggests it’s nothing but using Quantum physics in Computer Science. Generally in classical computing, everything works with the information in the form of bits 0 or 1. But in the case of Quantum computing it uses something called QBITS with this a Quantum computer uses 0 and 1 at the same time due to super position retained in electronic components such as transistors.

To understand how this speeds things up, consider this example. If the qubit is in a superposition of the 1 state and the 0 state, and it performed an calculation with another qubit in the same superposition, then one calculation actually obtains 4 results: a 1/1 result, a 1/0 result, a 0/1 result, and a 0/0 result. This is a result of the mathematics applied to a quantum system when in a state of decoherence, which lasts while it is in a superposition of states until it collapses down into one state. The ability of a quantum computer to perform multiple computations simultaneously (or in parallel, in computer terms) is called quantum parallelism).

But the Quantum computer cannot replace the classical computer as they lag in doing small tasks. The Quantum computer are much helpful in performing higher tasks, which the classical computer takes decades to solve.

A quantum computer would be able to perform calculations on a far greater order of magnitude than classical computers … a concept which has serious concerns and applications in the realm of cryptography & encryption.

GOOGLE AND NASA have launched a joint initiative in quantum computing.

The team, led by John Martinis of University of California, Santa Barbara is a collaboration between Google, NASA’s Ames Space Research Centre in Silicon Valley, and the Universities Space Research Asssociation (USRA).
